New Year 2023

Ski Trip

26th December 2022

- 2nd January 2023

If you had to design a ski resort for a short, relaxing break, you would come up with Crans-Montana, it is highly civilised, rarely crowded and extremely friendly.

The resort is spread along a south-facing balcony halfway up the 3000m massif that soars above Sierre in the Swiss canton of Valais.  With clear skies above and fresh snow – Crans-Montana takes some beating, the pistes are mostly gentle blues and reds, better suited to graceful cruising than thigh-burning descents, though there is plenty of variety. The mountains you bounce down with the midday sun full on your face are charmingly scenic, the mountains you gaze at – Zermatt’s Matterhorn just discernible among them – are mind-blowing.

The resort is actually two villages, Crans and Montana, that over time have effectively merged into one. Crans is the more upmarket  – shops include Prada, Louis Vuitton, Bally and Montblanc – Montana is younger and livelier, especially later in the evening.

When a ski area’s one of the world’s sunniest and has a skiable glacier to boot, the season sees some incredible mountain conditions.
Crans-Montana’s top point is a mighty 3000m, where the Plaine-Morte glacier covers a whacking great 10 square kilometres. A fabulous red run snakes down to Les Violettes at 2250m – but before you ski it, the ‘Imperial Crown’ of surrounding 4000m summits are well worth a gawp at.

Though famed for its sunny disposition, the top half of the area is high enough to hold onto the white stuff all winter, with the rest of the slopes getting a discrete top up via 200+ snow cannons.

Firstly we would like to say thank you to everyone for being so kind and patient with us as we navigated our way through our first season back following Brexit and Covid.

Now that we are back, so is our New Year ski trip for friends and families (touch wood the French don't screw it up again)

To get a full 6 days skiing in between Boxing Day and schools starting again on the 3rd January we have to be a bit cunning! Our coaches are going to depart early afternoon on Boxing Day (the Monday) and get into the resort by 07.00 the following day, Tuesday morning, in time for a shower, breakfast, a ski fit and a day on the slopes. Five further full days skiing takes us to Sunday with a departure back to the UK planned for 21.00 arriving back to London around 13.00 on Monday 2nd January.

Whilst the coach may sound like someone's idea of hell, this is a coach like no other. It specialises in European tours and has the facilities and legroom to match - don't worry, we'll make sure you cross the channel by Eurotunnel!

Price wise, costs have sadly gone up but are still great value, adults £695, children £640 and little ones £540 when sharing a room for 4 persons and are inclusive of return transfers by coach, full board accommodation, 6 day ski pass and complimentary ski equipment.

We hope you can celebrate New Year with us in Crans-Montana - any questions please give us a call on 020 8858 9535.
